Library in the Park

One of the most progressive libraries in the state, the Springdale Public Library is located on the northwest corner of beautiful Murphy Park (Pleasant St. & Maple Ave.). More than one half of Springdale's population has library cards and more than 1,200 people visit the Library daily.

The Library contains more than 133,000 items on its shelves and a reference collection in excess of 4,500 volumes. Large print, Spanish language, and audio books can be found, as can videos and dvds, music and sound recordings, computer software, hundreds of popular magazine titles, and a complete selection of local, regional, and national newspapers.

A spacious children's area with room programs, crafts, computer activities, and filtered Internet access is also featured. Electronic resources available at the Library include a computer lab and training center which features 25 computers, all with Internet access, that are equipped with Microsoft Word and Excel and many with PowerPoint and Publisher software. In addition, wireless Internet access is available at no charge.

Quiet, comfortable reading areas, many with expansive views of pastoral Murphy Park, are located throughout the building. The Friends of the Library bookstore sells used books for all ages and interests. The Springdale Public Library is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and, 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
